And to be honest, I was a little underwhelmed. The movie was fine, it was as enjoyable as it always was. But with all of the talk online about the how the theatrical versions are superior to the special editions, I didn't really see much of a difference from the various versions I've seen (except for Han shooting first, that's definitely the better version of that scene). I don't know, maybe it's because I grew up on the 1997 SE, or maybe because I'm not a passionate fan of the franchise but I don't see what makes it so much better. I'm genuinely curious as to why a lot of people have this opinion.
It's because you saw the SE first. The additions are absolutely fine (barring your example) but its not what people saw before. Just like how someone who saw episode 1 first would think it fine that Christiansen is in Jedi (even though it makes no goddamnsence!!)
