Recast, and continue the story.
This wasn't bad (until the HORRIBLE crane sequence (where this movie just goes off a cliff of stupidity)), but if audiences can accept a new James Bond, they can accept a new kid in a red and blue unitard.

The reboot could have been good but they shouldn't have rehashed the origin. That was this film's biggest problem. Story and character development gets put on the backburner because they had to tell the origin story again.
No... Recast and continue the story dosent work for Spider-Man
MJ and Raimi left already. So, Peter too? Better to have story and new start.
There was no story left to tell dude. Spider-Man 4 would be have 4 villains and scipt was even worse than Spider-Man 4. So, you wanted to see Batman and Robin, then Batman Begins?!?!?
High school needed to show, beucase Raimi failed to show high school. They showed only 1 scene in school, and nothing else!!!
Also, they needed to show origin, buecase Raimi rushed it and failed.
Raimi shut down Oscorp, failed to show Green Goblin and Venom.
Now they can make it right. Raimi rushed with villains. First 17 min villain is Venom? Really? Oscorp was fired by Oscorp?
Also, they dident show anymore oscorp after that, it was dead.
Also, Venom, most popular villain in spider-man comics and was ruined and rushed by Raimi.
It would have been better if they did something totally different and not rehash of the original. Why not a Spider-man movie with him as a Adult. When i first started reading Spider-man he wasnt a Fing teenager. Hell i would rather see a Spider-man 2099 movie. That would be F^%$ing Awesome. Or any other alternate version of Spider-man. It would be better then rehashing the same Bullsh!t.
I disagree. The Raimi films (all three of them) were terrible. I can't understand why everyone loves them, they're so friggin cheesy and boring. Maguire's Parker is annoying and pretty unlikable. MJ is even worse as a "love interest" as she's constantly dumping him. And whoever played his aunt was just awful (and yet her role kept getting larger for some reason). The reboot was needed, and the new cast blows away the infant-friendly crap that Raimi and company rolled out. It will be the only Spiderman movie I buy when it comes out in November. Martin Sheen and Sally Field make doing the origin story again worthwhile.
The problem I have with ALL of these movies (including the new one) is the villain ALWAYS regrets (to some degree) what they've done and they have a moment of penance before being the one to kill themselves. Did every Spiderman villain in the comic end up being a fairly okay guy with bad circumstances surrounding their motives? Predictability is never good for an adventure film. Especially in the ending of each one. And why is there always a moment where all the gawking citizens pitch in and help in a really corny way (the crane scene in the new one, the El-train in 2, the tugboat in 1, and I don't even remember any part of 3, and I like it that way). So annoying.
I definitely enjoyed the new cast but I thought it was silly that they had to do the origin story again. The entire time watching the movie I was like, "didn't I watch this movie 10 years ago?". I guess the studio felt like it needed to lay the foundation again if they want to build a franchise out of it (again).
But hey, it looks like it worked. The reboot made almost a billion (prob will after the DVD release) and a sequel is planned.
