I am not trolling. Seriously I just watched this movie for the second time (the first time being when i was ~6) and I'm having a really hard time grasping why people like it so much. It seems to have a huge cultish following among the nerd community. I've heard lines quoted from it over and over again. When those lines came up in the movie, I sat there stonefaced, wondering how anyone could find such poorly timed/delivered lines funny or memorable.

The acting was awful. I mean good god. The characters were bland and uninteresting. Cary Elwes, Andre the Giant, and those Jewish wizards were truly painful to watch. Mandy Patinkin was good though.

It seemed like everything that was intended to be funny missed the mark by a thousand miles. And I couldn't have cared less about what happened or why it was happening.

I feel like I should've liked this movie. I liked it way back when, and people whom I have mutual shared interests with like it as well. I enjoy this genre of movie, and have no problems suspending disbelief or revelling in a fantastical/figurative setting. I am aware that comedy and tastes in various art forms is entirely subjective, but I thought this movie was just awful. I really want someone to try to explain to me what I missed, or why they like this movie so much.
