Anyone else think the film should be called 'Meet Me in Montauk'?

It's a nice classic romance vibe about it like "Meet Me in St. Louis."

sorry but no.
it sounds so cliche and blockbustery...
Seriously, it sounds like one of those lame romantic movies.

And "the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" is so different
everytime I say the name of the movie I feel like I am reading a line from a poem. It's so musical.

Nah...this movie suffered from a poorly timed release date. It could have easily been a sleeper summer hit or given a better chance AND recognition if released in the fall/winter time. Instead, they opted to promote it as a Valentines Day romantic comedy genre flick like so many of the Kate Hudson/Kathy Heigl/J-Lo junk released during that time-frame.

All good responses.

Someone made a good point about the film being too complicated/dealing with too many themes to have a simple title, but I think that would give it an ironic quality.

Montauk clearly has a central role in the film and hearing Clementine whisper the title in Joel's ear at the end of his memory erasure would bring shivers down my spine, tbh.

No. It's called Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for a reason. It's symbolic. Obviously it's a reference to the procedure giving people "happiness" (Eternal Sunshine) by erasing their memories (The Spotless Mind).

The movie's title shouldn't be a spoiler. That's why "Jaws" wasn't instead called "Blowing Up Sharks With Scuba Tanks."
