What a great movie outside the norm for Asian guys
I should say this could easily be the norm if Hollywood wasn't so close minded and racist towards Asian men. This is the only movie I have seen in my entire life where the Asian male character was not portrayed as a stereotype and served primarily as the main love interest for a main character, actually more than one characters in a film. Which is good to see but a horribly bad sign being the only one I can recollect. This movie was also written, produced, and directed by all females so maybe that is why we finally got to see an Asian male in this type of role. White males would have been "afraid" the public wouldn't accept such concepts that deviate from the norm which they themselves conveniently set. Anyways hopefully more than of these films will occur in a lifetime to improve what the general feeling is of Asian men.

I agree. His character was more than just "the Asian guy." You rarely ever get that in a Hollywood movie.
MrEsjone22
in the first he was an arcade nerd who had a little pudge to him. In fact, Tibby notes he's a stereotype in the book (not of asians, but of nerd)
this movie has him really break that mold and be a goodlooking boyfriend who isn't defined by his race.
There's just a possibility that I will kiss a doorknob.
