The whole movie had a good story and good characters but the final twist,Where jude law insist on rooney mara taking drugs with negative side effects(as a means of torture) was stupid,She had already taken part in a sting to expose her partner ,why would the same prosecutor then go after her... it simply does not happen
Not to mention Failure to comply with court ordered therapy takes months to get to the point of arresting the person,it is simply not that quick
When the story line goes off to a place that confuses the audience, you lose the audience...
It all seemed like a Hollywood cliche, lets wrap everything up quickly and was out of character with how the whole film was progressing,it ruined the movie for me..
A film with so much originality really blew the ending....
agree I don't know why Jude Law's character suddenly became a sadist. Not enough character development for that. Very disappointed in ending.
It's interesting that there are people here who say they don't get why he became "twisted" at the end and sent her away to be locked in a mental facility. I can understand exactly why, obviously she couldn't be tried for murder or conspiracy thereof, so he got her back the best way he could, by not only ruining her life only for the ones she stole (his, her husband's and her mother-in-law)but also giving her a dose of her own medicine. Prescribing drugs that he knew would have an otherwise detrimental affect on her mentally, physically and emotionally was sort of twisted genius really. In my opinion, she got it worse than the doctor/her lover she conspired with, because he'll have a say if and when she should be freed.
